The Chiefs Rugby Club are bringing a Rugby & Rhythms music festival to FMG Stadium Waikato for the 2025 DHL Super Rugby Pacific and Sky Super Rugby Aupiki season. The event will feature a double header of Super Rugby games combined with an afternoon music festival with well-known New Zealand artists.
The festival line-up includes well-known acts Ladi6, Muroki, Hollie Smith, Bailey Wiley, and Dan Sharp, with more to be announced. Set across three stages within the grounds of FMG Stadium Waikato, fans will be treated to live shows throughout the day in the Mill Street festival zone, in the green-zone stadium area and on centre field. The festival will also feature a selection of food trucks, bars and fan zone activities. The combination of music alongside action packed double header match ups with the Chiefs Manawa facing off against Matatuu for round one of Sky Super Rugby Aupiki and the Gallagher Chiefs game competing against the Brumbies for round three of DHL Super Rugby Pacific will provide all day entertainment for rugby and music fans alike.
Chiefs Rugby Club CEO Simon Graafhuis said “This is part of our strategy to diversify the entertainment experience for our fans beyond the spectacle on the field and attract new fans to the game. We are thrilled to partner with these very talented artists to deliver a fun day out for the whole family that will hopefully be one of the sought-after gigs to attend this summer concert season.”
Participating artist, Ladi6 said "Being part of the Manawa game and Chiefs Festival Day is an honour — Chiefs Manawa embodies mana waahine, showing strength, heart, and resilience that inspire the whole community. I'm so lucky to stand alongside their incredible professionalism and spirit and celebrate everything they represent."
